A regulatory sandbox is a tool used by deployers of AI systems to assess the safety of their AI systems in a safe and controlled environment. This provides deployers of AI systems with an opportunity to ensure their AI systems comply with relevant regulations before they are deployed to the public. For example, these are commonly used amongst High Risk AI systems to check their implications on specific industries.
